New Board members wanted
Australians for Disability and Diversity Employment (ADDE) is a group working to increase employment opportunities for people with a disability and people from diverse backgrounds. People who fall into more than one of these categories are recognized as being even more disadvantaged. Therefore, we see a greater need for a change of attitude and awareness.
ADDE receives funding for various projects from the Department of Human Services (DHS), the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust and from delivering consultative services to advocate for improved disability employment within the Victorian disability services and government sectors.
Our Vision is to increase employment opportunities for people with disability and diverse backgrounds.
We currently have some vacancies on our Committee of Management and we are seeking new members who have a passion for improving the quality of life for people with disability and can bring some professional expertise to our growing organization. Skills and experience we are looking for include business/financial, government, membership development, legal or funding. People with disability encouraged to apply.
We have a number of exciting projects underway including the facilitation of Best Practice disability employment workshops and partnering with the Department of Human Services with the development of a statewide disability employment strategy.
Committee members meet monthly for about 2 hours to review current projects and develop the future direction of ADDE. We are currently auspiced by Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) and we are centrally located at Ross House, 247 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.
Please forward a brief summary of your achievements and your key objectives to Peter Rickards, President of ADDE, peter_rick@bigpond.com or call Geoff Crawford at the ADDE office on 9662-3324.
Our mission is to increase employment opportunities for
people with disabilities and from diverse backgrounds
in Australia. For those of you who are not aware we were
officially formed on September 7, 2005 at Victorian Council
of Social Services (VCOSS).
ADDE promotes pro-active employment
policies and practices for disadvantaged groups including
people with disabilities, mature age workers, people from
culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as well
as indigenous people. People who fall into more than one
of these categories are recognised as being even more
disadvantaged. Therefore, we see a greater need for a
change of attitude and awareness.
